Market Days in Tonala for December 2009

Swine Flu Diary

Not sure if this helps alleviate any fears about this "beast"....but here is my story:

I was diagnosed with swine flu about 5 days ago.

I post this not for sympathy but for those that are afraid of this flu.......its reputation is worse than it's bite (in most cases). The greatest danger is in secondary infections.... in my case this flu is just a miserable inconvenience and I felt lousy for almost 12 days.

My Son, (yes him again) has a set of drum cymbals to be brought to Vallarta.

If anyone is kind enough to bring these down with them, he will pick you up from the airport and take you to where ever you are staying.

The box is 21" X 21" X approx 6" and it weighs 18 pounds.

We have a beloved 15 year old pet dog that has hip dysplaysia and cannot go on. We have been giving him pain killers and anti inflammatory drugs for a while now and it is not working any more. We are looking for a vet to come to the house to put him to sleep them have him cremated. If anyone knows anyone please have them call me at 322-229-4947.

I logged on to my Bank of America online banking today and they have something new on there where you can order money in any currency and have it delivered to you. I can get 10,000 pesos for $810. Is that as good as I'd get from an ATM down there?

Is Tamiflu available at the pharmacies in Vallarta and is it ultra-expensive??? Since H1N1 is running rampant in our area there is now a shortage of Tamiflu as well as all flu vaccines. My teaching partner came down with H1N1 on Friday and after her Dr. called around to several pharmacies they finally found one who had some Tamiflu. Only people in Mexico will understand paperwork issues. When I went to get married, I needed an apostille. I sent in all of the paperwork way in advance and received my certificate back saying it couldn't be done because someone at THEIR office had forgotten to stamp the date - even though it was less than three months old. I had to get on a plane, fly to San Diego, get a new birth certifcate, and fly back to Phoenix. It took me four hours to the tune of about $300.00 US. Fine, done. ON...

I can walk to El Baracuda but can't explain to my daughter how to get there without knowing the street that it is on. I remember it being very close to the Buenaventura and on the beach.
