Since Carlos is between jobs and I am without one, we decided to take advance of our freedom and get out of town for a day or so.
Carlos has never been to Tehuamixtle nor Mayto, so I decided we should go there before Mayto becomes built up. (more later)

The road from Vallarta to el Tuito (HWY200) is as we expected it to be, littered with potholes making the drive a little dodgey at times, especially when one of the Boca buses decides to venture into uncoming traffic to miss a...

Cornstarch....

Can anyone please help me with a) what is cornstarch called in Spanish and b) where can I find it? I tried to make strawberry pie last week and used "fecula de maiz" in the Maizena box. It didn't turn out like strawberry pie, but more like thick strawberry jello in a pie crust. super sad . So, if you know what cornstarch is (the kind you need to make strawberry pie) can you please tell me? thank you!!

Guadalajara?

Friends are coming down for 2 weeks at the end of August. 2 adults, 13 year old girl and 9 year old boy. They'd like to see Guad while they're in PV, so what the best way to see Guadalajara? Grab a bus and overnight there? Try to do it as a day trip? Take an organized tour? Best hotels? tour groups? private tour guide or hire a taxi for the day? Things not to miss? It's been years since we were there, so I'm not much help.

This will be their second trip down...

Fresh masa?

Abandoned Kittens need new, loving homes

I found two starving, flea-infested, tiny kittens in front of my house that need forever homes. Both have been washed, fed, and cared for over the last several days and are improving rapidly. They are both female and about 4-6 weeks old. They have no fear of my dogs and get along fine with the other cats in the house. They are receiving lots of petting and socializing. They are very alert and active.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO COMMIT TO CARING FOR A PET FOR...

I'm looking for a private court yard within a 10-15 minutes from the cruise port. I'm doing several photo shots the week of August 23-30, 2008. I need a beautiful court yard, maybe even with steeps, lots of flowers, for national swimsuit images. I'm willing to pay the owner for allowing the use of the space. Hi everyone,

I am going to PV for the fifth time next Spring (my last trip was in '05) and wanted to get some honest feedback.

I have always stayed on Playa Los Muertos and enjoyed swimming there. I have recently been made aware that the water quality in the bay is so bad it has reached epic proportions and is completely unsafe for swimming.

What is the real story? Am I going to get hepatitis or something if I get in the water there??

Tourist boat Vagabundo on fire?

My husband is out on our boat (formerly Fisherman Ken's boat) testing some parts, and just reported that the boat called Vagabundo caught on fire down in front of Old Town, and that he had picked up some people that had jumped off her into the water.
He's bringing them back to the pier at Los Muerto's. At least that's what I understood him to say. It sounds like it's quite a fire.

Anyone down there see it, or know any more?
