My friend Chris and I are coming to Yelapa for an extended stay in a couple of weeks courtesy of our friend Deb who has a place there. I have been reading your forums for the last couple of weeks and look forward to meeting everyone and enjoying the beauty and activities in and around Yelapa. Chris is arriving on Nov 2nd but is staying in a hotel in PV and catching a water taxi the next morning. I arrive on Nov 8th and hopefully she will have things figured out a bit.

Hi, My group of 4 will be arriving a little late to catch any scheduled water taxi from Vallarta or Boca to Yelapa. Our plan is to take a taxi directly to Boca and charter a panga to Yelapa. My question; is the best taxi choice the "official" airport ones or the yellow ones across the walking bridge to go to Boca? Does one buy a taxi ticket inside the terminal if using the official taxis? I'm going to try to prearrange for someone from Yelapa to meet us there for the ride to...

Water Taxi Question

My wife and I arrive into the PV airport at 3:40 next Wednesday. Will we be able to to make the last water taxi from PV to Yelapa? I am hoping someone can advise me about which pier to leave from? And how to get from the airport to the pier? I am assuming a tax ride will be the quickest way to get to the pier.

We are coming back to Yelapa in October/November. We have entered a partnership with a family there and helped to build Casa Anahi. What I really want to have while I am in Yelapa, and for others who stay at the casa, are either a double or two single kayaks. We are coming to Yelapa in March 2010. Our flight gets in to PV @ 3:00pm. I believe there are different places to catch a water taxi to Yelapa. My questions are....

Which is the best place to catch the water taxi? How long does it take to get to the water taxi location from the airport? When does the last water taxi head over to Yelapa? Do you think we have enough time to get to the water taxi from the time we land? What are the time zones in PV and Yelapa?...

New here to the forum. My gf and I are looking at various coastal towns such as Yelapa, Sayulita, etc. We've quickly scanned Yelapa and found Casa Pericos to be an interesting place. I read the old posts about the construction issue, but haven't seen any comments since then.

- What's the reputation of Casa Pericos?

- If you have stayed there, what was your experience like?

Among the many reasons Kathryn and I consider Yelapa a paradise to live in is that we'll be enjoying margaritas with our meal at a restaurant tonight as usual despite the election day ban on alcohol. Our regular waitress told us the local interpretation of that regulation is that it only applies to Mexicans. Skoal!

Carved Rosewood

Hola, Everyone!

I will be in Yelapa for a week next January and have read a little about the carved rosewood workshop on the path to the waterfall. The pictures I found somewhere online showed plates, bowls and chopsticks. My impression is the wood is local to the area and I thought what a memoralbe item to bring home with me.

Since I have to bring all cash to Yelapa with me, I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on the prices in general of the rosewood pieces,...

Me and my family are going to visit Yelapa next week, we are going to stay at Casa playita arriba; my father does love to cook, and we are planning on cooking our meals, but what do you recomend us to bring from puerto vallarta, and how expensive and dificult is to buy fish at the local market?

We are doing our budget, so do you have any idea on how much would we expend on buying grocerys to cook in Yelapa?,

I am heading to PV on Thursday with a group of 8 women to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. She wants to head for Yelapa for a day trip. Other than the beach, what restaurants are open? We have never hiked up river to Manguitos (spelling??) but don't want to make the trek if it is not open. How about the Oasis? Any other recommendations off the beach? Sounds like our trip to Yelapa will be "weather dependent", considering the news about the hurricane!
