The nearest big grocery store is the Sunset Market, in the Paradise Plaza Mall. That's near the opposite end of NV, across the street from Paradise Village Resort. The prices at Sunset Market are somewhat inflated.

Somewhat inflated is an understatement, but it is the closest until the Commercial Mex opens in Bucerias....can't wait for that Harold and thought it's opening was imminent.
My favorite for when I stay at PDSG is to go to the Commercial Mex just across the way from the airport in the Plaza Marina building. If you don't have much luggage, you can easily walk there and then take a taxi from there to PDSG. About $20. If you have a car..then it's really easy. If you just can't deal with groceries on the day you fly in, you can take the bus from outside PDSG and get off at the stop sign just past the airport and the Plaza is just across the street. You might have to walk across the highway to the bus stop to go back (I took a taxi so I don't know). |

The Mega is open in Bucerias...has been since Dec 21/07.
Good store, reasonable prices and open 7 days a week, early morning to late at night. Liz Broughal www.puerto-vallarta-vacation-baby.com |

It's open, but they're still wrestling with keeping the shelves stocked like they should. The customer numbers overwhelmed the store; they're still trying to catch up from the Christmas rush, when the store looked like the day before a big storm was about to hit...stck was wiped out! Little by little, it's returning to "normal." I think the store really gets hit hard on weekends and the backroom storage area is only so big.
Right now, steel is being put in place out front for a large food court structure. |

Are you thinking big time shopping or just fruit juice, coffee, bread, cheese, eggs, butter, milk and stuff like that? We were at PDSG for a week in November
and found all our little stuff at the store on site. Prices weren't really that bad, owners get a discount, and we saved the taxi fare. Not probably the
answer if you are planning on doing your own meals, but we were just covering breakfast. Lunch at the snack bar wasn't really overpriced for a resort,
dinner at Cardinalli's is a MUST, and the clay oven baked pizza is YUMMY! Try the house Chianti at Cardinalli's, we are addicted to it. Found it here
in Poulsbo at our local market when we got home.

I thought the store onsite was WAY expensive...as in 3 times as much as a real grocery store, but the little shops in bucerias were great for produce
locally grown.

The Bucerias Mega has been doing a better job of keeping up with demand. Right now there are a lot of extra people in town sucking goods off the shelves, but
it looks like they're getting their distribution system more organized and the shelf emptiness doesn't last as long as it used to.
