(A URL address) Photos, especially large ones take A LOT of bandwidth and this board is charged by bandwidth usage, as well, people who have dial-up internet have issues as the photos sometimes take a long time to load. No problem, image hosting websites are plentiful (and many are freebies) but they also pull traffic elsewhere. Maybe better that, than bogging down AV's bandwidth. URL's are just as easy to post for sure! Often I avoid posting really nice Hi Res Photo eye-candy like this one, because it is just too large. By posting the link or URL the viewer has the choice to wait for it to load. Thanks for working with us!

Posts: 749 (05/01/07 9:37 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Just some factoids on EZSupporter: EZS allows you a few more options than being non-EZS, such as anonymous, to personalize your profile, etc. But the main benefit is that any EZBoard community you visit - ANY community, not just this one - as an EZS is not charged for your surfing/clicking/posting/editing. If you are a non-EZS, the board and board owner are charged for your visits. This is the board cost total referred to each year and is what used to be covered by donations to the Community Chest. It doesn't affect bandwidth, just the running tally of visitor charges.

Questions, you mentioned that the board is charged by bandwith usage and dial-up's suffer most. What kind of charges are we talking about preferably in monthly or annual amounts? I'm not sure how bandwidth works, do you have a favorite site which explains all or should I "google?" Thanks so much! pdxbuff

You pay this fee to a hosting company, for instance EZBOARD is a message board service and it also hosts the message board. Essentially, the board is free but you have to pay for the hosting. The hosting charges are by how much bandwidth is used. The busier the website and the amount of information (photos, text, animation, etc.) it has on it makes the price go up. A photo that is only 10k takes little bandwidth but a photo that is 500k takes more bandwidth. A link to a photo hosted somewhere else takes virtually no bandwidth. When you or someone posts a big photo is uses bandwidth it also takes a long time to load, so someone who has dial-up has to wait for the photo to load to not only see it but to do anything else. On the other hand, if you have piad to be an EZBOARD supporter (see the gold button by my name?) that means on this board, I can post etc. without EZBOARD charging my usage for bandwidth. The more people who are EZBOARD supporters, the less the message board costs because they do not raise the fee. If you do not have the gold icon by your name you are not a supporter. (You are not) I asked freguents posters of photos to please become EZBOARD supporters so they did not raise the fee. (Did you read this Chico? And if it wasn't for the EZBOARD supporters and all of the genrous donations this board would not be alive (GRACIAS!) So, I hope this helps to clarify my post and helps to answer your questions.
