Our destination of choice for the last few years has been Zi however this year we are trying a new adventure. Our home is Spanish in style so I LUV to shop when I'm in Mex for 'house stuff'. Being totally unfamiliar with PV, I'm hoping for some input from the shopaholics on great places be they furniture, lighting, art, pottery, fabrics or whatever. Clothes are fine too. Can't seem to figure out how to insert smiley's yet. They always seem to come out at the beginning of the message? I'll get the hang in time I'm sure. We'll be staying on Amapas if that helps however I'm not unwilling to go wherever in search of. LOL! Gracias Amigos/Amigas

Here are a few to get you started: Tile Store or Mundo de Azulejos Venustiano Carranza 374 Co. Emiliono Zapata (322) 222-2675 Great pottery and mexican tiles, sinks, signs, and peuter. Wonderful stuff!! Lucy's Cucu Cabana Basilio Badillo 295 Owned by Gil Gevins (author of the wonderful books: Puerto Vallarta on 49 Brain Cells a Day and Refried Brains) and his wife Lucy. Good prices and nice selection of items such as Day of the Dead minitures, cats, and Oaxacan animals. Los Arcos Plateria for Silver Morelos #273 - just south of the Malecon. They sell 925 silver by weight, often with sales with 20% off if you pay cash.. They also carry some plated stuff at a fraction of what the vendors try to get for it, which make nice inexpensive gifts for friends and coworkers. Alfarería Tlaquepaque Av. México 1100, Centro Tel (322) 223-2121 a wide variety of vases, jars, glasses, ashtrays, pots in ceramic, talavera, clay, blown glass and wood and prehispanic idols in all sizes painted by artisans from all over Mexico Señor Talavera - My personal favorite. Corner of Encino & Hidalgo just north of the river. 222-3101 ext 110 & 112 open 9am to 8pm. Guaranteed Lead Free Talavera pottery. These people buy direct from a certain artist and have some of the best prices for Talavera. They also have lots of other goodies as well. If you think of anything else I'd love to hear. Do any of these places have websites? Yah I can google - no problemo. I guess this isn't an oft asked question but its very germaine for me. Anyone who can contribute whether for lighting/furniture or whatever one would furnish ones home with will be MOST appreciated by me. Has anyone ever shipped stuff home? If so, who do you use in PV. In Zi we'd use DHL but that was pretty much the only option. Any other suggestions gratefully accepted. Sooo appreciate your response PatDale! If you can get to Tonala, outside of Guadalajara, for an overnight shopping trip, you will be AMAZED by the selection, and prices !

I believe she and a friend stayed at Hotel Tonala. I have been and stayed at Hacienda del Sol in Tonala. It is amazing the amount of stores! I went on Thursday when the tianguas were set up. But it is row after row of streets with furniture, decorative items, pottery, art, glasswares, flowers, paper mache, jewelry, talavera, lighting, nick knacks, puppies...... I even found talavera toilets! You also need to go to Tlaquepaque also. Very upscale compared to Tonala. Good restaurants and nice shopping, but much more expensive. Beautiful old hacienda mansions that have been turned into wonderful storefronts with unique items. A great plaza with mariachis and great places to eat. Enjoy if you go!
