And if the U.S. Consulate doesn't like the particular color of shoes the Mexican VISA applicant is wearing, that $131 USD application fee is flushed down
the toilet

On the news recently they said that soon the fee will be $350

That price is for an immigrant visa. Still the non immigrant visa has gone from $100 to $131. Good thing Canadians don't need a visa.

My daytime dental assistent just got his visa on the first try at the consulate in Hermosillo. You don't have to go to crowed, slow guadalajara just
because you live in vallarta. You can request your appointment at any of the locations.
He had prepared a mountain of papers, letters, etc etc and only asked to see his tuition recepiets and proof of being able to pay for his airfare and hotel in USA. Dr. Blanco Big Sonrisa Dental Clinic |

Hola,
This is the page he got his first info from: http://www.usembassy-mexico.gov/smxvisitarDF_turista.html Check out the little blue/grey block on the right of the page. It lists cities with US Consulates where you can go. This page: http://www.usembassy-mexico.gov/smxvisitar.html lists the phone numbers to call for the appointment. Based on stories from friends rejected in Guadalajara he decided to go to Hermosillo. He specifically asked if that was possible and they told him yes, anywhere you want is fine. It is not based on regions or states. the only question he was asked, besides having some of his letters and documents reviewed, was how come he came to Hermosillo instead of Guadalajara. He told them he had family in nearby LOS MOCHIS and was going to visit them before or after his appointment (I don't remember which). It's a 21 hour bus ride, requieres a night or 2 in a hotel because of the late hour the bus arrives, (He used SAN ANGEL HOTEL, 10 minutes by taxi from the consulate) and if you are approved you wait 3 days for the visa to arrive (2 or 3 more nights in hotel), they don't send them to Vallarta. If you know someone in Hermosillo o Los Mochis you can designate someone to pick it up for you or recieve it by DHL and later forward it to you. His appointment was first thing Monday morning. Early appointments are nice, the reps/agents aren't cranky from seeing a million people already. There are 2 forms you can download from the same sites I posted already. If you arrive with the forms already fulled out you get in first before people filling out forms at the consulate. He was in at 8 am and out before 11 am. suerte Dr. Israel Blanco BIG SONRISA Dental Clinic 322 113 0398 |
