MADISON - In Madison, the gay community is mourning the death of a tireless advocate and volunteer.
Felicia Melton-Smyth was murdered in Mexico. Melton-Smyth was vacationing with nearly 20 others when she was discovered dead inside her Puerto Vallarta hotel room.
Friends are in shock. They say she touched so many lives.
"She's done so much for this community, it's up to us to pick up the pieces. She was 50 people in one person and it's up to us to carry on that legacy," Dan Leamy said.
"If she had a dollar for every life she touched she'd be a millionaire," Leamy said.
The executor of Melton-Smyth's will is reportedly a suspect in the case and is currently in police custody.
