if those are pesos... | ||

The 320 pesos per person is cheaper. If its USD, much better to buy your own ETN luxury bus tickets 300 pesos each way roughly and stay at Hotel Morales
(fantastic) downtown for about 900 pesos if you pay cash. If you want to shop in Tlaquepaque or Tonala I'd stay at Quinta Don Jose in Tlaquepaque.

for a first time visit to Guad, I would suggest taking a package tour. You will get to see the areas and sites along the way and in Guad; the tour may include side trips to Tequila, Tlaquepaque and Tonala. Check around, there are several companies that offer tours, we travelled with Harris tours a few years ago and enjoyed the "first trip" structure of it. Now, I would fly or bus in and stay in Tlaquepaque for a shopping blitz. |

I'm also a fan of "package tours" for first visits. A couple of Summers ago, we went on a month-long tour of Europe with a busload of Mexican,
Central and South American tourists. We saw an incredible number of places in a very short time.
Would I go on the same European tour again? Definitively NO. The tour was all GO, GO, GO! There was hardly a time to catch one's breath. You eat when you're not hungry. Sleep when you're not sleepy. Go the the restroom when you don't really need to. Was the tour worth it? Definitively YES. If I were a tourist stumbling around with a guide book, it would have been almost impossible to visit all those places within the alloted time. Half of my time would have been spent trying to arrange local transportation and finding my hotel. This trip had been well-planned and orchestrated by travel professionals. What would I do next time I visit Europe? I would go without the tour and concentrate my time on seeing more of the things that interested me during the first trip there. |

Just my two cents worth, but I agree with Chartguy. First of all both Tonala which is for shopping on market days thurs. and sundays, is small and Tlaq. is
also small but another great little town to do alot of shopping.
Guad. can be seen in an 1/2 day but you can give it one full day including the huge market place in town. When yhou do the ETN bus route on your own, you can pick and choose where you would like to go and at your own pace. Something I have done in the past many times is get a taxi driver at the hotel or onw you get at the bus station for a flat fee pick you up daily at your hotel and take you where you want to go daily. you pay for his lunch/dinner as he is with you all the time. I have always enjoyed this route. good luck! |

Check for a package tour at Scott's Tours, on L. Cardenas in the first block at the south end of the footbridge over the arroyo, south of Centro Bucerias.
Good guy, fair prices, honest.

When we did the trip from PV to Guadalajara, we took the ETN bus which was so convenient and reasonably priced. We stayed at the Quinto Don Jose in
Talaquepague and did the market in Tonala one day, then arranged for a driver to show us around Guadalajara another day. The Quinto Don Jose also made the
arrangements for our driver and he was great. Air-conditioned Suburban, spoke English very-well and was so knowledgeable on Guadalajara. He took us
everywhere, dropped us off and then picked us up an hour or so later. Some stops where shorter and he went along and explained the history. It was a nice way
to explore Guadalajara on our own schedule.
