Where is the best place to buy chicken on the south side? When I was there in the spring we got one from Picnic - maybe it was a bad day but it just didn't come close to the Chilies chicken. I like the one on the outside of Plaza Caracol but I can't remember the name of it - does anyone know and does anyone know if they have one on the south side.
Thanks |

How about POLLO FELIZ (5 de Diciembre) diagonally across the street from Rizos.

The one you are talking about by the Plaza is El Pechugon. They have another location across the street from Rizos. We were one of their best customers last year. (I know Brenda is cringing because she does not eat at those chicken places...lol) We have eaten chicken from there for the last 3 years and never had a problem. Wednesday they have a great deal like 5 bucks for the chicken, tortillas and salsa. We bought potatoes on the side, and ate for 2 days there was so much!
Edited to say: JR was the one that told us they have a southside location...JR is it directly across from Rizos? I forget now ...LOL There are quite a few in that area. See ya soon Kath Michelle |

In August we got fabulous chicken, potatoes, etc. from a Super Pollo i think it was - whatever the name, it was on a corner sort of diagonally across from the Cine Bahia heading towards town, maybe a block or two before you come to the bridge where Le Bistro & El Fuente del Puente are. I'm going to try to find a map so i can give the actual street names.

We get our chicken from Polo Feliz. We like it because it is grilled and they have awesome quesadillas!

Okay - i looked at a photo that we took of the chicken place i wrote about previously & the fellow cooking was wearing a T-shirt that said El Pechugon - it is on Insurgentes before Le Bistro-

We buy both the rotisserie and grilled chickens. I usually prefer the rotisserie, and love the potatoes. OK, I also love the little rolled up and fried chicken tacos, like taquitos or tacos dorados. A friend calls them "killer tacos" because they ae fried, but as Brenda says Yum-o!
I reheat the chicken and potatoes in the microwave. Our favorite chicken comes from a place near the Cruz Roja - it is grilled. |

I agree with you Michelle that El Pechugon Pollo is one of the best.
On the south side, the corner of Aquiles Serdan/Insurgentes one block before the bridge. They sell out early so don't wait to late in the day at that location. El pechugon has many locations, outside in front of Gigante Mall, the Marina and across from the stadium etc. Enjoy! |

We buy the rotissere chicken in front of Gigante all of the time. There used to be two on the outside, one either side of the main door into the mall. Now there is only one, so you have to get there early. They are often out by 5:00 pm. Yum!!

There are several places in Bucerias. People have recommended the one in the arroyo on the non-ocean side of the highway.

As was posted Gigante pollo outside the mall at the parking lot.
there still are 2 pollo's outside the mall. super pollo which is on the left side facing the main entrance the second is on the right side of the entrance around from the cambio and that is El Peugon Pollo and they are opened until 9pm. Wed. they are 45pesos a real bargain. enjoy! |

The Wed. special at Pechugon (on Insurgentes & Aquiles Serdan) has gone up to $49.00. Still a great bargain.

pollo mas o menos | ||
|
You all treat this question like the chicken is the same here everyday from every place. It isn't. I'd say, just take your chances and go for it.
The only bad experiences I've had are being short-changed by the person at the Super Pollo outside of Rizos and getting pollo with too much salt at Happy Pollo on Insurgentes. Or vice-versa. Pollo names blend here. The only one that's stood out for me was in Oaxaca: Pollo Brujo. Now that stuff was magical. Bad (or good) situations are often changed on the next experience. The chicken here is good, mas o menos. Mostly mas. |
